Chris Rottmayer, first year DMA piano performance student of Dr. Johannes Wallmann, will present a solo piano recital featuring his own arrangements of the songs of composer Alec Wilder. Chris Rottmayer's latest recording project, entitled Reactive Synthesis, features his quintet and his original jazz compositions. Christina Pappalardo is a senior, majoring in music education and studying with Professor James Doing.  The program consists of German, French, and Italian art songs and arias followed by jazz and musical theatre classics, including selections from the Marriage of Figaro of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "Misty," by Erroll Garner, and "Audition (The Fools Who Dream," from La La Land by Justin Hurwitz. Marc Vallon is professor of bassoon and bassoonist for the Wingra Wind Quintet in residence at the School of Music. A native of France, Mr. Vallon studied at the Paris Conservatory, where he earned two Premier Prix–for bassoon studies with Maurice Allard and for chamber music with Maurice Bourgue, Myron Bloom, and Christian Lard. During his conservatory studies, played in various Paris orchestras, performing under many renowned conductors, including Sergiu Celibidache, Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, Karl Boehm, and Lorin Maazel.

For this special event,  John Wesley Wright will present a recital of a variety of African-American music including examples of calls and chants, children’s game songs, spirituals and ring shouts, hymns and gospels, civil rights era songs, and contemporary songs.
