DMA recital: Wesley Dunnagan, voice

A recital with pianist Martha Fischer, professor of piano at UW-Madison.

A native of Wabash, Indiana, tenor Wesley Dunnagan’s performance highlights include operas Falstaff (Caius), Così fan tutte (Ferrando), Gianni Schicchi (Rinuccio), as well as oratorio tenor solo appearances in Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Nathan Gunn in the title role, Handel’s MessiahLa resurrezione, and Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Haydn’s Nelsonmesse, Beethoven’s Mass in C. A passionate recitalist, he has presented many art song performances in the U.S and abroad. He holds degrees in German studies and music from Stanford University, a master’s of sacred music from the University of Notre Dame, and is currently a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the direction of James Doing.

Recital: Samantha Carter, violin

Samantha Carter is a violin undergraduate studying with Prof. Soh-Hyun Altino, She will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor; Schubert’s Violin Sonata in G minor D408; and the Ciaccona from Bach Partita No. 2 in D minor.

Student Recital: Brandi Pease, horn

Brandi Pease is a senior studying horn with Daniel Grabois. She will present her senior recital with works by Dukas, Krol, Rhienberger and more. Her accompanist will be announced in the spring.

Senior Recital: Bartholomew Shields, violin

Bartholomew Shields, a native of Philadelphia, is a senior violin performance major  studying with Soh-Hyun Park Altino. Bartholomew will perform Haydn’s Piano Trio in C major, Hob. XV:27 with Micah Cheng, cello and Kangwoo Jin, piano.

He will also perform Brahms’s Sonata No. 1 in G major, Op. 78, for violin and piano and Debussy’s Violin Sonata in G minor with Satoko Hayami, piano.

DMA Recital: Kaleigh Acord, violin

Kaleigh Acord is a first-year DMA candidate, studying violin with Soh-Hyun Park Altino. Joined by pianist Alyona Aksyonova, she will perform Vaughan Williams’s “The Lark Ascending” and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major.

Master’s Recital: Matthew Chan, violin

Matthew Chan is a second year master’s student in violin performance studying with Professor Soh-Hyun Altino. He also serves as a teaching assistant and primary instructor of the String Fundamentals and All-University Strings courses at the university. He will perform Bach’s Sonata for Violin no. 1 in G minor, Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor 3rd movement, Brahm’s Sonata for Violin and Piano no. 2 in A major, and Beach’s Romance for Violin and Piano.
