Matthew Onstad, a second-year DMA candidate in trumpet performance studying with Alex Noppe, presents a chamber recital with special guests Vincent Fuh on piano, Iva Ugrčič on flute, Cole Nasman on keyboard percussion, Jacob Sveum on trumpet, and Matthew Bragstad on trombone.
The program will include the “Croatian” Trio, James Stephenson; Lucid Intervals, Dave Maric; Tournament, John Stevens; Pastorale, Eric Ewazen; N.O. Rising, Kim Scharnberg.
A Wisconsin native, Matthew Onstad is principal trumpet with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra of Iowa and Illinois and is currently on trial as principal trumpet with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, Ohio. He is also adjunct instructor of trumpet at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Matthew serves the Mead Witter School of Music as a project assistant performing with the Wisconsin Brass Quintet, a faculty ensemble-in-residence, where they are regarded as one of the “superb brass ensembles in the USA” (Musicweb International) and praised for “remarkable musicianship and versatility” (International Trumpet Guild Journal). Since 2012, Matthew has been a member of the 132nd Wisconsin Army National Guard Band, and has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Iowa, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and the Isthmus Brass. Matthew is an Edwards Instruments artist and clinician.
