Orchestras
|
Auditions for UW orchestras are held in late August, and again in December and January (for available spaces). You do not need to be a music major to participate. The success of the Orchestra Program is demonstrated by the number of previous students and conductors who are now working with professional orchestras. (We do not need CDs from potential music majors.)
Chamber Orchestra
The Chamber Orchestra specializes in the performance of baroque and classical repertoire, as well as contemporary works composed expressly for a small ensemble of winds, brass, strings, and percussion.
New course fee will help maintain instruments in our collections for all UW ensembles. The fee of $10 should be paid after auditions. If a student is in more than one ensemble, they need only pay one fee per semester.
PAY THE $10 COURSE FEE ONLINE at the start of each semester. We accept Visa and MasterCard.
Chamber Orchestra Schedule 2012-13
The All-University String Orchestras are open to all students in the University and require no audition. These orchestras provide an opportunity for non-music majors to maintain and improve their musical skills. They meet once a week to rehearse music of a wide range of levels and styles. If All-Univ. String classes are full, you may email the conductor to be added to the waiting list; Prof. Jensen, jljense2@wisc.edu.
PAY THE $10 COURSE FEE ONLINE. We accept Visa and MasterCard.

Orchestra Auditions We have 10-minute auditions at the start of each semester, space permitting. Call or email the orchestra office for an audition time. The audition includes specific excerpts chosen by the conductor, a solo work that demonstrates your technical and artistic maturity (approx. 2-3 minute passage of your choice), and sight-reading.
