Charles Dill completed his doctoral study at Princeton University in 1989 with a dissertation on Rameau's Castor et Pollux. His subsequent study of Rameau's lyric tragedies, Monstrous Opera: Rameau and the Tragic Tradition, was published by Princeton University Press in 1998. He has also contributed articles on French Baroque Opera to Studies in Music History, Cambridge Opera Journal, the Journal of the Royal Musical Association, and the Journal of the American Musicological Society. Dill's interests include aesthetics and epistemologies of music, the relationship between music and texts, and music's historiography. A University Teaching Fellow, he offers courses in opera and the Classical period. |
