“Joan La Barbara and the DAAD Berliner Künstlerprogramm in West Berlin, 1979”

A noted singer and composer, Joan La Barbara is a major figure in the history of new music in the latter half of the twentieth century and is often associated with other experimentalists like John Cage and Morton Feldman, with whom she collaborated. Professor Calico’s presentation should appeal to those interested in contemporary vocal music and extended vocal techniques. Undergraduates are especially welcome.
