Choirs
The Choral Program has auditions at the beginning of each semester, and offers performance opportunities for both the experienced singer and the novice. Groups range in size from 34 to 180 members.
You do not need to be a music major to participate in these 7 choirs,so we encourage you to audition and have an exciting, challenging, inspirational and enjoyable time! Please note that University Chorus does not require an audition.
Choral Union
This 150-voice organization is open to singers both in and outside the university community.

The next Choral Union performances are Nov. 22-23 in Mills Hall with UW Chamber Orchestra. These ticketed events will feature Vaughan Williams, Flos Campi; Brahms, Naenie; and Beethoven, Mass in C.

Choral Union auditions for new members are Sept. 3 and 4 in Morphy Hall, Room 2330 Humanities Bldg. following a short 6:00 meeting. The choir is open to singers both in and outside the university community, and everyone is welcome to audition. Monday night rehearsals begin September 8. A required dress rehearsal is Thursday evening, Nov. 20.

Chorale
This high level group of 90 singers performs a varied repertoire.

Concert Choir
An advanced-level flagship group with 55 members sings a variety of primarily a cappella choral literature. They record CDs and occasionally tour.

M 3:30-5:00pm, TR 2:30-4:00pm, 1351 Humanities
Madrigal Singers
This select group of 34 members sings repertoire for small chamber choruses from Renaissance to the present. It is open to singers both in and outside the university community.

Masters Singers
A group of approximately 50 singers with varied repertoire, trained and conducted by graduate students.

University Chorus
A non-auditioned chorus of 90 in which the singers learn choral and vocal technique and musical styles of different periods. You do not need to audition for University Chorus, so register at the beginning of the semester if you're interested.

Women's Chorus
A chamber group of 40 women study and perform a wealth of literature for female voices.

Fall Auditions for UW Choirs
Auditions will be Sept. 1 and 2 from 9-5 by appointment. Beginning August 23, you may sign up outside Room 2521 Mosse Humanities Bldg. for a specific audition time. Or you may request a specific time (in August) by email: ctolson@wisc.edu. The 5-minute audition will include singing My Country 'tis of Thee (we have the words and will help you with your best starting note), and sight-reading. Afterwards, the conductors will help you decide what choir best suits your schedule and abilities. Each choir has one or two required concerts per semester.  Please don't register for choir until after the audition.
