The School of Music is proud of its more than 3,000 alumni, who hold positions at major universities and orchestras, as accomplished studio and public school music teachers, as busy free-lance musicians, and in a variety of other occupations.

Daniel Black
Composer/conductor Daniel Black was awarded a Diploma in the composition for solo instrument and orchestra division of the Fifth International Prokofiev Competition in Composition, held in St. Petersburg, Russia from April 10-11. As part of the Diploma award, Black’s composition, Concertino for Horn and Orchestra, was premiered on April 11 in the Glazunov Hall of the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
Nate Stampley
Nate Stampley played the role of Mufasa in West End London in a long-run production of "The Lion King", and recently participated in a photo shoot with New York "King" (a.k.a. mayor Michael Bloomberg) and the king from "Spamalot." He is currently is in the cast of the Broadway production "The Lion King," and was recently in the premier cast of "The Color Purple" on Broadway. He has been heard across the United States in national touring productions of "Ragtime" and "The Lion King". He performed in "Pacific Overtures" on the Navy Pier in Chicago, and was a nominee for the Jeff Award.
Milwaukee High School of the Arts Director of Piano Studies
Christopher Wszalek (BA 2002) is the Director of Piano Studies at Milwaukee High School of the Arts, where he has worked since 2002. Mr. Wszalek is active in the Milwaukee theater community, providing music for companies such as First Stage Children's Theater, Off-the-Wall Productions, Renaissance Theaterworks, Windfall Theatre, Waukesha Civic Theater, and Bay Players. He also accompanies classes for the Milwaukee Ballet School.
Patrick Burke
Assistant Professor of Music at Washington University in St. Louis
Patrick Burke received his Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology in 2003 from the University of Wisconsin, and he is currently Assistant Professor of Music at Washington University in St. Louis.
Kathryn Dey
Principal Viola in the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, GSO string quartet member, string instructor at South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities
Kathryn Dey, who received a BM in Viola Performance from the UW-Madison in 1994 and who has studied at Eastman, is principal viola of the Greenville (SC) Symphony Orchestra and violist of the GSO string quartet. Ms. Dey is also on the string faculty of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, a residential arts high school located in Greenville, South Carolina. She is the viola instructor and chamber music coach at the Governor's School and also created Concertato String Orchestra, a conductorless chamber orchestra that received top prize at the 2006 ASTA High School Orchestra Competition in Kansas City.
David Chidsey
Instructor of Applied Guitar at Teachers College and adjunct instructor of Jazz Studies in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
David Chidsey is in his second year at Columbia University in New York, and along with his other teaching positions he currently instructs string orchestra at the High School for Environmental Studies in Manhattan. He has also started a music teaching business called the Manhattan Music Instruction, where he currently employs two other faculty members and is growing.
